Together's mission is to prevent and end hunger and homelessness.
This is done through strategic partnerships and collaborations with other nonprofit organizations, government, businesses and caring individuals. Together's core values of hope, dignity, compassion, excellence, and diversity is the guiding force in how the organization leads and serves those who need Together most.
Together envisions a community of prosperity where everyone experiences safe, affordable housing, food security, health and wellness.
History
Together has been a vital part of the Omaha community since 1975. After the devastating tornado of 1975 that swept across Omaha, the "Together" cooperative was formed by a group of organizations to help people affected by the tornado. The leaders of Countryside Community Church, Dundee Presbyterian, Temple Israel, Kountze Memorial Lutheran, Trinity Cathedral, First United Methodist, St. Cecilia’s Cathedral, and many others organized the “Together” cooperative effort to meet the immediate needs of the hundreds of families that were struggling with the basic necessities of life: food, clothing, and shelter.
After the tornado relief, the "Together" cooperative founders realized that thousands of families in Omaha need relief every day. Unanimously, the leaders opened up Together's services to the community year-round.
Since then, with the help of donors and volunteers, Together continues to grow and evolve to best serve the needs of its community. Through all these years, Together's purpose remains the same, bringing relief to those in need.
