Together’s Voices program helps to ensure that the concerns of our neighbors facing food and shelter insecurity are heard in matters of public policy. Our Director of Advocacy works with lawmakers and shapers of policy at every level to keep the needs of the most vulnerable in our community front of mind, targeting systemic barriers to safe, affordable housing and food.
Direct service responds to today's need. Advocacy helps change what creates that need.
Together's Voices program works to ensure that the experiences of people facing housing instability, homelessness, and food insecurity are represented in the policies and systems that affect their lives.
Our direct-service work gives Together a unique view of where systems are working — and where people continue to encounter barriers.
We use that knowledge to advocate for meaningful change.
Voices focuses on:
- Public policy and legislative advocacy
- Housing and food-access policy
- Community education
- Coalition building
- Data-informed advocacy
- Elevating participant and community experiences
- Identifying and addressing systemic barriers
- Collaboration with community partners and policymakers
By connecting what we learn through direct service with advocacy and systems-level work, Together works toward a community where fewer people experience housing and food insecurity in the first place.
